What would fit us best in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Hotel Zone or Downtown?
Me and my girlfriend will be going to Puerto Vallarta in late May for a 5 days. We really just want to go party and enjoy the beach, get a romantic view (wink wink), and a little site seeing, but mostly party. Yes, we are big party freaks… I have two hotels in mind with the same price.
In Downtown: Sheraton Buganvilias Resort & Convention Center and in Hotel Zone: Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta

either one its fine. The Sheraton is closer to town and has a great champagne breakfast brunch on Sundays.
We’ll come party with you!!! lol
hotel zone. sit around the pool or on the beach during the day, at night for 10 pecos, 70 cents, you can take a bus to downtown.
Either one is probably fine. But, there’s no real secluded beaches downtown or in the Hotel Zone south of the marina.
If you want seclusion, consider Nuevo Vallarta. It’s about 10 miles north of the airport and it’s really an outpost. There’s only mega resorts there, and you have to take a taxi or bus to get anywhere, which can get expensive (and old). But, there are long expanses of secluded beaches there (people mostly hang out at the resort pools).
One of my favorite things to do is Puerto Vallarta is the city and country bus tour. It goes through downtown and down to the jungles inland from Puerto Vallarta. They let you off the bus every now and then to check things out. You end up at a tequileria, where you learn about the tequila distilling process and get unlimited free tasting.
I say definitely stay in the hotel zone. That’s where I stayed when I went with my boyfriend. Taxis are really cheap to take into the downtown area, and sometimes the hotel will even have a "bar crawl", which is where you pay like $30 and they take you around to 3-4 bars, with no cover and free drinks at the door. It was a BLAST when we did it!! Plus the hotel district is a little bit more romantic for the just hanging out on the beach and sightseeing.
Either or really. They’re both good hotels and I’m actually pretty sure they are close to each other, so I don’t think you will loose out with either choice. Between the two, I’d probably go with Sheraton, but I haven’t stayed in either so I can’t recommend one over the other.
Have Fun!
